Having served a 5 year apprenticiship in the printing industry as a letterpress machine minder I was well placed with knowledge of the mechanics of the book when I decided to go it alone as a bookseller nearly 40 years ago.
Selling from several bookshops in Devon and Cornwall. I finally closed my last shop in Moretonhampstead some three years ago.
For many years I exhibited at the monthly PBFA London bookfair at the Russell Hotel, also at a number of provincial venues, such as York, Bath, Oxford, etc.
I exhibited several times at the ABA annual London Fair at Olympia, Although I am no longer a member of that trade association.
Although I no longer exhibit at PBFA fairs, I am still a member of this organisation, and strictly adhere to their rules and code of conduct.
I have a large book room, and now sell nearly entirely online, with somewhere near 90% of my stock listed.
I have an electic antiquarian stock of books, maps, manuscripts, with most subjects covered including, a fine selection of antique maps of Devon and Cornwall.
Condition of the book is most important.
