Notes: wife of Sir Mortimer Wheeler, archaeologist (1890-1976). She excavated with him at Lydney (1928-9), Verulamium (1930-3), and Maiden castle (1934-7). Two page ALS, May 16th, 1928, on 'Caerleon Excavation Committee' headed notepaper to Mrs Plouman full of affection, and discussing Mrs P's 'charming little brooch', and also an archaeological tour in Wiltshire for university students.
